Previously, Jason Schreier reported that Xbox had cancelled the Avowed sequel as part of its latest restructuring. He also reported that Obsidian might shift its priorities towards a new Fallout title.
But now, Jason has suggested that the things might be a little more complicated. He has revealed that a small internal team continues to work on Avowed 2, while also waiting to be reassigned to other projects.
According to his reports, this sequel is already further ahead in development. Because of this progress, the remaining developers are hoping to bring this project to life and complete it, which can make the Xbox decision to reconsider it.
The idea is that if it takes a very little extra effort to get the game over the finish line, then Xbox might rather finish and release the sequel than drop it completely,” Schreier said.
