Gear up Battlefield fans!

Excitement grows as DICE and Electronic Arts (EA) prepare to announce key details regarding the forthcoming Battlefield community test program. This is scheduled for February 3, 2025, at 8 AM PDT (5 PM CET).

This announcement was posted by the official social media page and promises to provide a much-anticipated playtesting phase. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Today’s big reveal

As the report suggests, according to Insider Gaming, EA is very determined to intensify its efforts for the multiplayer and Battle Royale components of the upcoming Battlefield title.

This will be a very different move from Battlefield 2042, where player feedback was notably absent during development. With weekly playtests in recent months, DICE looks committed to a player-first philosophy, trying to avoid past mistakes and create a more polished game. A very good news for the fans.

The community test environment (CTE) is rumored to return, possibly focused on multiplayer, including a free-to-play Battle Royale option created by Ripple Effect. This could be the key to reviving the series’ former grandeur by reverting to a modern scenario with 64-player maps and classic class-based gameplay, rather than the specialty system of Battlefield 2042.

While there is no official title or release date for the game, speculations say it will be available in October 2025. The buzz features a robust arsenal of 45 weapons and about 10 new multiplayer maps, as well as considerable enhancements to the demolition mechanisms. There is also mention of unique features, such as the ability to carry downed teammates, which would improve team dynamics.

Although platforms have yet to be formally confirmed, there is talk of a version for the Nintendo Switch 2, reflecting EA’s ambitious plans for this installment.

Fans are looking forward to today’s announcement, not only for gameplay clips, but also for a more in-depth look at how EA intends to incorporate player feedback into the game development.
