Great year ahead for gamers

Aside from PS5, fans are quite thrilled with the upcoming Xbox games that will be released in 2025. Even though 2024 was not that good for them, this year might be different.

There are some great exclusive games that fans have been waiting for so long to play. Let’s check out more details in this article.

8. South of Midnight

Compulsion Games have really stepped up and are going to deliver something amazing this year. They are the same developers who created We Happy Few and Contrast. The game casts you as Hazel, who becomes a Weaver after a storm hits her hometown of Prospero. A Weaver, according to Compulsion Games, is a “magical mender of broken bonds and spirits”.

“Imbued with these new abilities, Hazel will confront and subdue dangerous creatures, untangle the webs of her own family’s shared past and -if she’s lucky – find her way to a place that feels like home,” according to the game description. For now, the official release date has not been announced yet.

7. Avowed

This is the game that I want to play the most but can’t because this is Xbox exclusive. However, this will be available on PC via Steam to play. This FPS open-world RPG game looks absolutely stunning and so far, the fans have really high hopes for it. Most of them are hoping that this won’t turn out to be similar to Dragon Age Veilguard which was a huge disappointment.

Originally delayed until 2024, it is now ready to provide a Skyrim-like adventure, available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from the start. It will officially release on February 18, 2025.

6. Fable

Another one of the most awaited Xbox games and IP franchises that fans are waiting to play this year. For now, the official release date has yet to be announced. This game has been in development for nearly a decade and now fans have high hopes for it just like they are waiting for GTA 6. Not only is it the fourth main installment of the series, but it also serves as the franchise’s reboot. So far, developers have revealed the official trailer which received a great reception from the fans.

5. Gears of War: E-Day

Another return of the famous franchise and one of the most awaited Xbox games this year. Gears of War: E-Day is going to be a prequel set 14 years before the original game. This story is going to center around Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago when they were young.

This is an Xbox-exclusive game that does not have a confirmed release date yet. This game was announced at the Xbox showcase on June 9, 2024.

4. Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6)

There is no doubt that GTA 6 is the most awaited game of 2025. This will be a console exclusive for now and probably the biggest hit of 2025. The world is going to stop when this game is released. Every glazing for this franchise won’t be enough as Rockstar is going to deliver something that many fans will remember for the rest of their life.

Fans just hope that it will stick with its fall 2025 launch and will not delayed any further than that. We have waited for many years, but now, GTA is finally here.

3. The Outer Worlds 2

This sequel, which expands on the wacky sci-fi universe, promises to be larger and more intricate, offering players new experiences in Arcadia set amid a faction war. Obsidian Studios have done a great job and the sequel to the series is actually looking pretty good and exciting.

According to the entertaining gameplay reveals trailer, the game took “three times longer to make” and would be at least “two times bigger”. The Outer Worlds 2, like the first, will be a first-person RPG that transports players to the new Arcadia colony, where a factional war has erupted and you must navigate.

2. Borderlands 4

It’s almost six years and fans are now finally getting a new Borderland game. The first title was legendary while the rest of them were not up to that mark for me. But the fourth title looks amazing so far, whose gameplay and trailer were revealed at The Game Awards 2024.

While fans received Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and New Tales from the Borderlands in the interim, it still felt like something was missing. Borderlands 4 will take players to a fresh new setting, complete with four new vault hunters and a cast of returning characters.

1. DOOM: The Dark Ages

You can’t count out DOOM: The Dark Ages as this is also one of the most awaited games of this year. For now, the official release date has not been revealed, however, we can expect some new information in the coming months.

This game will be a prequel to the DOOM 2016 game which will tell the fans about the origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage. According to developer ID Software, the game sees you control DOOM Slayer as he tries to protect a kingdom against the demons from Hell.
