It reminds me of old games
MercurySteam, the studio behind Metroid Dread, has just released a new gameplay video for their upcoming game Blades of Fire. This five-minute trailer showcases non-stop combat of our protagonist while fighting monsters with different weapons.
This game is scheduled to launch on May 22, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Dynamic combat with weapon switching
The trailer begins with a noteworthy feature: players can smoothly switch between three self-crafted weapons, each with unique attributes and move sets. From the precision strokes of a sword to the sweeping force of a warhammer, warfare necessitates adaptation.
Early in the footage, we see a blade shatter in the middle of a fight, prompting a quick swap—a sign that planning and preparation would be essential.
We can see the protagonist roaming around the sgreeny mountain regions where he fights against various types of monsters. On the way, he was also seen collecting different materials while having a conversation with some NPC in the Blades of Fire new gameplay.
After that, we see him arrive at a Forger’s Anvil, a luminous checkpoint that also serves as a fast-travel hub—ideal for traveling this vast landscape.

Forging your own path in Blades of Fire
Lead designer Joan Amat has recently shared his insight regarding the game progression and details about the traditional RPG style.
Players will have a forging system where they can have almost infinite weapon combinations. You can tweak changes, edges, balance and grips. This almost makes you feel like an old craftsman with magical powers.
“You won’t turn Aran into a magic god by shooting fireballs,” Amat explained. “Our aim is to make every choice meaningful.”
This is what makes Blades of Fire different from many other RPG games. You have to prioritize your skills and creativity with the forging. Make sure to follow us as we will keep you guys updated regarding any new updates and information about Blades of Fire.
