Ubisoft’s commitment to quality
There were a lot of concerns and worries when Ubisoft delayed the release of Assassins Creed Shadows to February 2025. Recent Ubisoft titles like Skull and Bones, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Star Wars Outlaws have not performed well.
But now, Ubisoft is preparing for a comeback with their upcoming Assassin’s Creed game according to franchise boss Marc-Alexis Coté.
The Promise of Assassins Creed Shadows
Ubisoft’s recent history with the games have not been that successful and there is always been an inconsistency with the titles.
Fans and critics alike have complained about releases that were hurried or lacked the polish expected of a firm of Ubisoft’s caliber. This has resulted in a narrative in which Ubisoft’s products are more heavily criticized for their perceived lack of quality.
However, Marc-Alexis Coté’s comments at a recent BAFTA event in London shed light on Ubisoft’s ambition and the Assassins Creed Shadows potential:
“Players can afford to be selective, choosing only the best, and they rightfully demand excellence. Assassin’s Creed Shadows represents our opportunity to change that narrative, not just for Assassin’s Creed, but I think for Ubisoft as a whole.”
His statements acknowledge the past criticism and a commitment to deliver a really good Assassin’s Creed game for the fans.
The Assassins Creed Shadows is not just another title release, it’s a beacon of hope for Ubisoft and the change of approach to the game development.

Development Insights
The game was supposed to be released early but now has been pushed back to February 14, 2025. According to Ubisoft, these delays is due to delivering a more polished game for the fans:
- Feature Complete: The basic game has already been created, and the extra time is being spent to improve gameplay, graphics, and the overall player experience.
- Steam Launch: Unlike previous releases, Assassins Creed Shadows will be available on Steam and other platforms from the start.
- Season Pass Decision: Ubisoft has also opted not to release a Season Pass for this title, instead including all post-launch content in the main game, resulting in a price increase for the Collector’s Edition.
