Deadlock's Steam player count soars after Massive City Never Sleeps update

Valve’s highly anticipated live-service multiplayer title, Deadlock, has reached a new height recently with the latest Massive City Never Sleeps update.
This game is still in the closed playtest that requires invite to play the game. There is no confirmation on when the game will officially launch.

Massive City Never Sleeps update brings new changes & increased player count
Deadlock’s closed playtest is only available on Steam and you need an invite to play the game. With the latest update, the game has hit an all-time high of 262,145 players.
In the new update, there are sweeping gameplay improvements, a major map overhaul, new mechanics, UI enhancements, and several new playable heroes.
The game’s map has also gotten a complete rework. You can now discover Steam Vents that provide temporary invisibility and health regeneration if you stand inside them.
There are also new interactive objectives, including Tough Crates, which require heavy melee attacks to open, and Healing Snacks hidden across the battlefield to restore health during matches.
There are also neutral objectives, which have been revamped in a new system called Haunts, giving even more variety within each match. In the meantime, Golden Statues are now Buff Containers with bonus abilities like Bullet Resistance, Spirit Resistance, Ability Range and Movement Speed.
Valve has further introduced The Broker, Corrupted Items, revamped shop menus, an enhanced event feed, UI tweaks and a new dialogue viewer to the Hideout.
Six new playable heroes
Deadlock’s playable roster has also been expanded with the new update. There are now six heroes in the rollout:
- Nurse Harrow
- Rat King
- Solomon
- Deadman Danny
- Baba
- Violet
Each hero will bring unique abilities and playstyles. This will further increase the team’s strategic depth and compositions.
