During an interview at the New Games Plus Showcase, Pearl Abyss’ PR and Marketing Director Will Powers has clearly clarified that Crimson Desert will not have any romance.
According to him, this game is “not that type of game.” This means players will not be able to pursue any romantic relationships in the game with any of the characters during the journey.
This game will feature many unique NPCs and key story characters, but none of them can be engaged in a romantic relationship.

Focus on Combat and Sandbox Gameplay
Instead of romance, players will get action-heavy gameplay, exploration and freedom in Crimson Desert. This is designed as a system-driven sandbox.
This means that players can approach combat encounters and puzzles in different ways. Some might prefer direct combat, while some might experiment with environmental mechanics or creative strategies.
The developers are heavily inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Both games have great storytelling and gameplay depth.
