No more leaving messages
The upcoming co-op action RPG game from FromSoftware, Elden Ring Nightreign is going to be a little different from the traditional Souls game made by the company.
The game director Junya Ishizaki has also revealed that one important feature from the previous game will be revealed in their upcoming new game. Let’s check out more details in this article.
No more leaving messages
The famous message system where players were able to leave messages and notes on the ground for others to find, rate and learn from will not be present in the new co-op game.
This is because Nightreign is more like rogue-like run-based gameplay, where each session caps at around 40 minutes. Each session might last up to 40 minutes and players won’t have enough time to do so.
“While you can still see the ghosts of other players, the ability to leave messages has been removed,” Ishizaki noted. “In this game, where each session is about 40 minutes long, there is no time to write your own message and no time to read messages written by others.”
There were more things that Ishizaki told in his latest interview. Miyazaki was involved up until the conception point. After that, it was in Ishizaki’s hands. There will also be no easy mods. FromSoftware truly believes the Souls fans and their player base to complete the game without any easy mode.
In the game, players will earn a currency called “marks”. No mention of whether it will be purchasable for real money. “Marks” can be used to purchase relics which will permanently boost your character. They can also be used to purchase gestures and skins.

Elden Ring Nightreign will be available on a variety of platforms in 2025, including the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
A closed network test in February will give players an early taste of these changes, with sign-ups starting next week. The major question is whether these changes will improve or detract from the overall experience that fans have come to anticipate from FromSoftware games.
