Crossplay absence in Elden Ring Nightreign

Despite the game focus more on multiplayer this time, the game director Junya Ishizaki has told IGN that it will not have a crossplay feature. Rather than, it will be cross-generation where PS4 players will be able to play with PS5 users and the same goes for Xbox.

The lack of crossplay capabilities in Elden Ring: Nightreign is unexpected given the trend in recent online games toward platform connectivity. “Similar to the original Elden Ring, there will be cross-generational play but not cross-platform play,” Ishizaki said, implying that the game’s online framework will follow the studio’s habit of segmenting player bases by platform. This could come as a letdown to players who intended to play the game with pals from various gaming networks.

Latest updates on Sony and Kadokawa deal

Well, the whole gaming community knows that Sony is eagerly trying to purchase Kadokawa which actually owns the FromSoftware. During the same interview, Ishizaki revealed that FromSoftware is currently not involved in discussions on Sony’s rumored acquisition of Kadokawa.

“To be perfectly honest, we just don’t know right now at the moment where the discussion currently is at,” He stated.
