The old classic is back!

Classic games lovers got a pretty good surprise from Square Enix at PlayStation State of Play, as they announced Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles for the current-gen platforms.

This game was originally released in 1997 on PlayStation and is known as an iconic SRPG that shaped countless franchises.

This new enhanced version is perfect for the old classic lovers and new fans with updated features while preserving the magic of the original.

Final Fantasy Tactics is releasing in September 2025

Mark your calendars as Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will officially release on September 30, 2025, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

The latest trailer was revealed at PlayStation State of Play, which showcased a stunning makeover.

It also featured fan-favorite characters like Ramza Beoulve, Delita Heiral, and Algus Sadalfas with revamped visuals.

The environments have been updated to fit modern standards, while retaining the nostalgic tone that made the game a classic.

This is what the official game description says:

FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles includes two different versions of the game: enhanced and classic. The enhanced version adds fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features. The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto save.

This is a great time for SRPG fans as they would be able to play their beloved Final Fantasy Tactics with enhanced graphics on the latest gen consoles and PC.

Personally, I have played many Final Fantasy games, but I haven’t tried this one yet. It would be a great time to try this classic on my PS5.
