No sequel for now?
The Souls fans were a little disappointed after Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that they are not focusing on Elden Ring 2 for now. This game has been one of the greatest RPG games made by FromSoftware and it’s evident why fans want more content from this title.
However, Miyazaki has confirmed that the studio is working on many different projects. Let’s check out more details in this article.
The Current Focus of FromSoftware
During an interview with Game Watch, Miyazaki revealed that they are not working on the sequel. However, the fans don’t have to be disappointed as the studio is already working on many different projects.
He also gave a hint and said, “I think we’ll be able to show you a new FromSoftware in a variety of ways.” This most probably suggests that they are determined to drop a completely new IP in the future.
In the interview, there was also talk about Shadow of the Erdtree DLC getting nominated for the Game of the Year 2024. Miyazaki also shared his view and said that this was made as a part of the game and not a standalone game.
Future of Elden Ring?
Although it seems that the studio is currently not interested in making a sequel, Miyazaki also said, “There are many things we need to reflect on in the DLC, so we will accept them honestly and sincerely and make use of them for the next game.”
Maybe sometime in the future, we might see a sequel but the fans would have to wait for a long time for that. This could imply that elements of the extension will have an impact on future developments, whether or not Elden Ring is directly involved.
Conclusion
- No Immediate Sequel: For now, stop dreaming about any DLC or sequel for the game. But this doesn’t mean we are done with this lore and universe.
- Expansion of the IP: There is a very good chance that we might see the Elden Ring universe in some sort of other media. Expanding its universe in unexpected ways.
- New Projects on the Horizon: FromSoftware is actively developing a number of new games, indicating a bright future for the firm beyond Elden Ring.
