Phil Spencer, Xbox’s CEO, confirmed the game’s release date of 2026. While the specific date remains under wraps, this announcement suggests that the wait for this prequel may be less than expected.

Potential anniversary tribute with Gears of War E-Day

Gears of War E-Day was first teased at the 2024 Xbox Showcase. E-Day will dive into the origins of the franchise, set 14 years ago before the original game.

This is what the original description says about the E-Day:

“Experience the brutal horror of Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix in the origin story of one of gaming’s most acclaimed sagas.”

Dom Santiago is not the only one who is returning, as fans will also see Marcus as they both are set to face the terrifying Locust Horde.

According to Insider Gaming, there is a potential chance that Gears of War E-Day might launch around November 2026.

The original game was released on November 14, 2006. November 2026 will be the 20th anniversary of the franchise and this can be a very good time to launch the new game.
