The game officially launches on October 6, 2026
The Coalition and Xbox are providing fans & players an early chance to experience the Gears of War E-Day open beta weekend ahead of the official launch.
First, there is an Early Access Beta for qualifying players, and then there’s an Open Beta, which anyone on Xbox and PC can join. Players can also earn some exclusive rewards while playing the open beta. Let’s check out more details in this article.
How to access the Gears of War: E-Day Early Access Beta
There are some requirements that need to be fulfilled if you want to try out the early access beta:
- Pre-order Gears of War: E-Day on Xbox Series X|S or Steam.
- Have an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- Have an active PC Game Pass membership.
If you are qualified for this, then you can download the beta and jump into the multiplayer once the servers go live.
How to join Open Beta?
The second open beta weekend is available for everyone. Players on Steam and Xbox Series X/S can simply download the open beta client from the stores. You don’t need to purchase the whole game to play the open beta.
Xbox players will require an active online membership, while PC players can directly access the beta through Steam.

Gears of War E-Day exclusive beta rewards
Players can get six unique rewards during the beta weekends. These are all cosmetic rewards and they won’t provide you with any gameplay advantage.
- Epic Blast Damage Mags Character Skin.
- Rare Crush the Bug Weapon Skin Set.
- Crush the Bug Banner.
- Crush the Bug Emblem.
- Crush the Bug Icon.
- Open Beta Medal & First in the Fight Title.
Here’s how you can unlock the beta rewards:
- Epic Blast Damage Mags Character Skin” Hit Player Level 20
- Rare Crush the Bug Weapon Skin Set: Extract from Horde Siege 8 Times on Infantry difficulty or higher
- Crush the Bug Banner: Get 25 Headshots
- Crush the Bug Emblem: Perform 10 Revives
- Crush the Bug Icon: Perform 5 Prototype Lancer Chainsaw Executions
- Open Beta Medal & First in the Fight Title: Launch the Multiplayer Beta

When does the Gears of War: E-Day Open Beta start?
The Open Beta begins on August 13, 2026, at 12:00 PM PT and runs until August 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM PT.
What game modes are available during the beta?
The first beta weekend features the new 12-player Horde Siege mode, while the second weekend adds 4v4 Versus multiplayer alongside Horde Siege.
