The game will be exclusive to PS5 and PS5 Pro!
Fans and gamers are waiting patiently for Ghost of Yotei, which is all set to release on October 2, 2025, exclusive to PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Recently, the co-director of the game, Jason Connell, revealed to VGC in an interview that the sequel in feudal Japan will be the same length as Ghost of Tsushima.
Similar length but new adventures in Ghost of Yotei
According to HowltheBeat, Ghosts of Tsushima takes 25 hours to complete the main story, with 46 hours for the side content.
Yotei director Connell told VGC that the sequel would be the same length. However, the playtime in the game may vary depending on how the players play it.
Unlike Tsushima, protagonist Atsu’s journey to seek the Yōtei Six entails gathering information and following leads, leading to various areas and tasks.
This adaptability introduces new weapons, upgrades, and playstyles from the outset, keeping the experience interesting.
He also emphasizes more towards storytelling:
“We adore the Ghost series’ freedom, inspired by samurai cinema,” he said.
“Our challenge is blending that creative liberty with a structured narrative—beginning, middle, and end. Atsu’s journey won’t let you rush to kill the Six without context; we cherish the story too much for that.”

Will Jin Sakai appear in Ghost of Yotei?
Jason Connell clearly stated that Jin Sakai won’t be in the game. They are bidding their goodbyes to Ghost and moving towards a new Era.
This is what he has to say about the topic:
“We loved crafting Jin Sakai’s story, but for the sequel, we wanted a fresh thrill. Atsu’s origin as a ghost in Feudal Japan feels exciting and new.
“Atsu’s story is very rich, and a lot of unexpected things happen, and part of it is getting to know these new characters.
So, while we really love Jin Sakai and his story of letting go of his honor to become the ghost, we wanted to let players experience this new version of what it is to be a ghost in Feudal Japan.”
There are already some theories and easter eggs that we might see some type of Jin Sakai lore involved in Ghost of Yotei.
For now, the fans can only wait for October 2, 2025, when the game will finally launch on PS5 and PS5 Pro.
How long is Ghost of Yōtei compared to Ghost of Tsushima?
It’s similar, around 25-46 hours depending on side content and playstyle.
When does Ghost of Yōtei release?
It launches on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PS5.
What new features does Ghost of Yōtei offer?
More activities, new weapons, and a non-linear quest to hunt the Yōtei Six.
