PC fans might have to wait longer
Talking about the market shift, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games has now exceeded the market capitalization of its long-time competitor, Electronic Arts (EA). This happened after the announcement of GTA 6 following the track release in the fall of 2025.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also shared some important information regarding the PC version of the game in an interview with IGN. Let’s check out more details in this article.
GTA 6’s platform strategy & market impact
Take-Two Interactive has now surpassed EA’s market cap after announcing that GTA 6 will be released in fall 2025. Take-Two rejected EA’s $2 billion acquisition bid in 2008, believing the company’s true value was far higher.
Also in a recent interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the game will only be available for consoles (Xbox Series X/S and PS) on the launch day. After that, the game will launch on PC, but they will have to wait for a while.
“When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles,” Zelnick added. However, he recognized that not all games follow this pattern. He used Civilization 7 as an example of a title that launched concurrently on many platforms, including PC and Nintendo Switch.
He also shared his thoughts on the growing market for PC, “We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue,” he explained.

He emphasized that PC editions can account for up to 40% of a game’s overall sales, demonstrating the strategic importance of this platform in future releases.
Before it was just rumors but now it has been confirmed that GTA 6 won’t be arriving on PC on the launch day. PC fans and gamers can only watch the walkthroughs on YouTube or can watch their favorite streamer on Twitch and other platforms who will be playing this game live.
