Master Chief is finally arriving on PlayStation!

Classic Halo fans, wake up! Halo Studios has finally announced the return of Master Chief with Halo Campaign Evolved, a “faithful yet modernized” remake of the legendary Halo: Combat Evolved.

This is set to release in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5. Yes, you heard it right! First time ever, Halo will be playable on PlayStation. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Halo Campaign Evolved: Remake on Unreal Engine 5

This is a fully modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, built on Unreal Engine 5, pretty similar to the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Campaign Evolved is going to stay true to its 2001 blueprint that redefined FPS campaigns: ringworld battles, Covenant chaos, and Cortana’s quips.

But, Halo Studios is taking this to the next level with upgraded graphics, visuals, more smoother FPS experience and cinematic overhauls for smoother storytelling.

New performances from the cast (Steve Downes as Chief, Jen Taylor as Cortana) and a reworked score create an epic swell. Oh, and Skulls return for chaotic mode, along with a beefed-up armament that includes the fan-favorite Needle Rifle, Battle Rifle, and Energy Sword.

Three brand-new prequel missions

Yes, there will be three brand new prequel missions available in Halo Campaign Evolved, starring Chief and the gravel-voiced Sgt. Johnson.

They appear before the events of the original, introducing new locales, enemies, and characters—ideal for split-screen co-op (consoles only, however).

In terms of teamwork, join four-player online co-op with seamless cross-play and progression across platforms. New dynamics like sprinting increase the tempo without disrupting the flow, vehicle hijacking adds risk-reward thrills, and, yes, you can now control the massive Wraith tank. For now, there is no information and rumors about competitive multiplayer.

Halo Campaign Evolved gameplay & conclusion

Halo Studios also revealed full 13 minutes of exclusive Halo Campaign Evolved gameplay for the fans.

Pelicans crashing onto Halo’s beaches, UNSC Marines attacking Covenant lines, Warthog reinforcements arriving quickly, and Chief pistol-whipping Elites on their way to the map room.

Shooting feels smooth—overcharge the Plasma Pistol, no scope with the M6D, all while racing through sun-baked beaches. It’s the mission we’ve all played a hundred times, but this time with butter-smooth aiming, heavier opponent waves, and next-gen environmental flair.

For now, the exact release date has not been revealed yet, but it will release in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5.
