Horizon Zero Dawn movie officially announced by Sony

Sony has just revealed that the Horizon Zero Dawn movie will be arriving soon and this was revealed at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show. This announcement was made by Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.

This will start a new cinematic adventure for fans of the 2017 post-apocalyptic action game by Guerilla Games. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Aloy on the big screens

Horizon Zero Dawn movie will be in collaboration between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions, continuing their partnership after successes like the 2022 Uncharted film and the 2023 Gran Turismo adaptation.

This isn’t all they have to offer, as they have also announced Ghost of Tsushima anime and an Uncharted sequel.

While information is limited, Qizilbash expressed excitement for the project: “Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are at the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn. Just imagine, Aloy’s beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far future world filled with the giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen.”

But fans have to note that this project will take time. They are already working on Ghost of Tsushima and Uncharted sequel, so the Horizon Zero Dawn movie won’t be arriving anytime soon.

The casting of Aloy has already prompted popular controversy. Sophia Lillis and Anya Taylor-Joy are two names that have come up.

Fans should brace themselves for a long wait before any solid updates surface, but the possibility of watching her adventure in a cinematic format is undeniably exciting. Given the scope and intricacy of the game’s environment, converting Horizon Zero Dawn into a film will be no easy task.
