Disappointment for subscribers

Sony has announced their lineup for PS Plus January 2025 free games and it appears that fans are not happy with this monthly lineup. One of the worst games ever, Suicide Squad has been included whose servers are already dead.

Need for Speed and The Stanley Parable are a good addition, but wasting space on SS has severely disappointed a lot of subscribers. Let’s check out more details in this article.

The backlash explained

For those who don’t know why many fans and gamers hate this game, here is a simple explanation. There was too much hype for Rocksteady’s new game but when it was released, it was heavily criticized due to technical glitches, gameplay issues, and performance lags. It was literally unplayable at that time and you can even check out some gamer’s old streams on YouTube and Twitch. To emphasize how serious the problems were, Sony even offered refunds, which is out of the ordinary for a game of this quality.

Fans are voicing their frustration

Along with me, many PS Plus subscribers are not happy with this game addition. They could have included any other game, but instead, they selected the dead game.

Here are some fans’ reactions on X: (formerly known as Twitter)

  • @GamingGuru77 tweeted, “Adding Suicide Squad to PS Plus is like giving away a broken toy. Not cool, Sony.”
  • @PSFanatic shared, “I get it’s free, but should free mean we accept games that didn’t work when they cost money?”
  • @ControllerHero remarked, “Suicide Squad in PS Plus? Might as well call it PS Minus this month.”

To make matters worse, the game will no longer receive new material after Season 4, with updates ending with Episode 8. This information has intensified the backlash even more:

  • @EndGamePlayer expressed, “Why include a game that’s essentially dead content-wise? This is a waste of a spot.”
  • @LiveServiceCritic added, “First, you cancel the live service, now this? PS Plus is becoming a graveyard for games.”
  • @SubscriptionSaver bluntly stated, “Cancel my subscription, please. This isn’t what we signed up for.”
  • @ValueSeeker proposed, “Sony should offer a cheaper tier where we can opt out of months like this.”
  • @DisappointedGamer suggested, “Why not add Concord to make it a trifecta of disappointments?”

This is a huge letdown. I am not interested in playing Need for Speed as I have already played this before and was pretty much okay. Don’t even talk about this garbage Rocksteady game, I ain’t going to waste time playing this.

However, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe is a very underrated game and I am looking forward to playing this one. This is the only good addition to this month’s lineup. What are your thoughts on this? Do let us know in the comment section.
