Housemarque's Saros release date & gameplay revealed at PlayStation State of Play

Housemarque is ready with another amazing game next year

Housemarque, the studio behind the 2021 PlayStation hit, Returnal, is back once again and recently revealed the gameplay trailer for Saros. This is their new upcoming action roguelike game.

This PlayStation 5 exclusive retains the signature sci-fi ambiance and lone-wolf heroics, but with a new twist. This game caught us with its barren alien landscapes and Rahul Kohli (from iZombie) as the protagonist. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Saros release date & gameplay

Mark your calendars for Saros, which is officially set to launch on March 20, 2026, exclusive to PS5 and PS5 Pro.

A new gameplay trailer, about 5 minutes, was recently showcased at PlayStation State of Play. If you have played Returnal, you will find the gameplay and combat mechanics pretty much similar to it.

This is also a third-person roguelike action game, which will show us the main character, Rahul Kohli, navigating alien and otherworldly and fighting different monsters with a lot of bullets, actions and dodging.

Combat steals the show: Insane bullet-hell scenes in which foes swarm with missiles, requiring quick dodges and precise shots. It’s rapid, flowing, and reminiscent of Returnal’s heart-pounding runs, in which death meant beginning over.

At the same time, we can see our main lead, desperately trying to find someone and pushing through the endless loops, without worrying about his death.

Final Thoughts

Although it appears to have no relation to Returnal, the Saros gameplay looks pretty much similar. It won’t be wrong to consider this as Returnal 2.

However, this title looks more polished and visually beautiful this time. Returnal is one of the best games I have played on PS5 and I can’t personally wait to play Housemarque’s Saros.
