Easy guide to adding extra storage

Sony’s PS5 comes with less than 700 GB of usable space, which is sometimes not enough to install and play many games at the same time. Many games can be quite large, consuming a significant amount of storage space on your console.

The best way to deal with this situation is to increase the storage with the official PlayStation SSD. In this article, we will guide you on how you can add the SSD to your console easily.

Easy DIY for PS5 SSD

Here is the step-by-step guide to adding the SSD:

  • Lay your PS5 on the side and pull the top corner that doesn’t have the PlayStation logo.
  • Now that you’ve removed the cover, you can easily look inside the hardware.
  • Use a screwdriver to remove the metal plate’s screw, as shown in the video.
  • There will be another screw underneath; remove that too. Make sure to keep the screws secure so that you can fit them back later.
  • Now take your extra SSD and slot that into your console.
  • Secure it and put back the metal plate and screw it back.
  • Now pop the plate back into your console and power it on.
  • The first time you switch the PS5 on, the SSD will need formatting.
  • Change the default location to the new drive for all future downloads.

There are 1TB and 2TB SSDs available in the market; you can choose whatever you like the most. If you still feel it’s difficult to do it yourself, you can take your console to your nearest local game shop or PlayStation outlet.

You can buy PS5 digital edition on Amazon.

Price and where to buy SSD?

The price depends on where you live and where you buy from. There are different companies as well, but it is recommended to buy WD_Black, which is certified by Sony itself.

It will cost you around ₹13,999.00 for 1TB and ₹25,999.00 on Amazon. You can also go to your nearest game shop or PlayStation store to purchase the SSD.
