The pain is real
Rockstar has finally announced that GTA 6 is going to get delayed and will not release in fall 2025. This was announced on May 2, 2025, via Rockstar Games’ official X handle.
However, the good news is that they have revealed the release date for the game this time. GTA VI is now going to release on May 26, 2026.
Another whole year to wait
After seeing no updates or trailers for GTA 6 from Rockstar, it was kind of expected that the game might get delayed.
That’s what happened as Rockstar Games finally gave the fans the update on May 2, 2025. This wasn’t the news that fans wanted to hear.
But now they have to wait one more year, as the game will now launch on May 26, 2025. This was officially revealed via X post.
Fans and gaming industry experts are still speculating and predicting that there is a good chance it will be delayed once again.
It won’t be a surprise to see the release date pushed back again in October or November 2026.

GTA 6 will be worth the wait
The best part is that GTA 6 has been in development for almost 12 years now. With one more year, it’s clear that Rockstar doesn’t want to take any chances.
They don’t want to rush things by delivering an unpolished version just for the holiday launch. The delay only tells us that we are about to witness something unreal in 2026.
Even CEO Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two Interactive (Parent company of Rockstar) commented related to the GTA 6 delay:
“We support fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to bea groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations,”
There is no doubt that GTA 6 will be worth the wait and fans have to start counting days once again for the official launch of the most awaited game of all time.
