The next co-op game by Hazelight studio

On October 17, 2024, Josef Fares, the founder of Hazelight Studio posted a tweet that they are planning to reveal a new video game soon. It Takes Two which is one of the biggest hits has sold more than 20 million copies. That’s not the only thing he said, he even teased the name of the upcoming game by writing, “S**** ******N.”

Fans were already able to guess the title from the reveal and rumors. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Hazelight Studio’s new game: Spilt Faction; Sequel for It Takes Two?

The studio account also posted more information on the tweet and it appears that the new game is going to release in 2025.

The title mentions “Co-op,” indicating that the game will be cooperative, as have the studio’s prior releases. It should be noted that the game, like A Way Out and It Takes Two, will be distributed under Electronic Arts’ EA Originals banner.

The new game is called, “Split Fiction” and it has been in development for at least two years. The first section of the game’s title provides insight into its core gameplay.

Thanks to this and the major clue present on the first post-it, we assume that it is the means of the split screen to be able to play this game, which will be completely redefined.

Also, note that this is not the sequel to the It Takes Two game. The studio will celebrate its tenth anniversary in November, which could be a possibility to find out more about the game through an official announcement.

Thoughts

It Takes Two was released in the first half of 2021, meaning it has likely been in development for about four years. Both A Way Out and It Takes Two used dynamic split-screen, so that’s nothing new, but the moniker ‘Split Fiction’ makes me think if this game will have a lot more asymmetrical stuff going on in terms of the story, which would be interesting to watch.
