New masterpiece in the making
From some leaked photos and posts from the Vietnamese government, it appears that Riot Games is looking forward to the new territory to film the League of Legends Live-Action series.
Their animation series, “Arcane,” has already been majorly successful and that’s what LOL fans expect from the live-action version as well. Let’s check out more details in this article.
New Live-Action adventure
Riot Games’s Arcane series took the world by storm with two seasons. The storytelling was perfect, and the League of heroes was showcased perfectly. One of the best things about the series was the animation and soundtrack, which really carried the series to the next level.
It appears that Riot is looking forward to the League of Legends Live-Action series. This will be similar to Fallout and The Last of Us live-action series, which has received major success as a video game adaptation.
A statement on an official Vietnamese government Facebook page has stoked conjecture, saying Riot is preparing a nine-episode TV series based on League of Legends, with filming likely beginning in late 2025.
The Cát Bà Archipelago in northern Vietnam has emerged as a top contender for the shoot location. This coastal treasure, known for its majestic cliffs, beautiful blue waves, and nautical charm, appears tailor-made to portray Bilgewater—the League’s gritty, pirate-infested port city.
Riot has also scouted many Asian countries for the League of Legends Live-Action series, including Japan, Korea, and Thailand, before looking forward to Vietnam.
Rose Lam, an experienced executive producer whose credits include The Last of Us and Altered Carbon, was one of the representatives who met with Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. According to Lam, Vietnam’s diverse scenery and energetic atmosphere made it an obvious choice.
What can fans expect?
For now, these are still in the rumor stage and if the League of Legends Live-Action series officially gets announced, then there is a chance that it might enter production by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
Most probably 2027 would be the right choice for releasing the League of Legends Live-Action series. If my guess is correct, then just like Arcane, this would also land on Netflix.
