Hyrule fans and gamers are pretty excited for the upcoming Legend of Zelda live action movie, which is currently set to release in May 2027.

As part of a huge new global Pay-1 licensing agreement between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Netflix, the highly anticipated film will be available exclusively on the platform following its theatrical and home entertainment release.

This movie will join the other two big movies: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and Sam Mendes’ four Beatles biopics in the streaming queue for Netflix.
This is directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), produced by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad and will hit the theatres on May 7, 2027.
The filming has already started in late 2025 in New Zealand and Bo Bragason is playing the role of Princess Zelda (known for Renegade Nell and The Radleys).
Meanwhile, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has been cast as Link (seen in Pinocchio, The Haunting of Bly Manor).
