The fans and gamers are all pretty excited as Amazon Prime has finally announced the Kratos for the God of War live action series. Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy’s Opie, Remember the Titans’ Gerry) will be officially playing this character in the series.
Ryan has also voiced Thor in God of War: Ragnarok and is ready to bring back the Greek & Norse vibes in the live-action. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Hurst, who stands 6’4″ and exudes gloomy intensity, captures the ex-Greek god’s rage-to-redemption storyline. Fans on X say, “Full-circle magic!” And “Opie -> Thor -> Kratos?” Insane.”
All he needs to do now is get bigger (muscles) and have a deep voice. Most of the fans believe that Ryan would easily nail the role of Kratos.
It is expected that the filming will start in February 2026. In the coming days, we might get more announcements or leaks for the other characters as well.
Currently, it is rumored that Olafur Darri Olafsson (Severance) might be in talks to play Thor in the series. Once again, another good choice if it’s true. Ronald D. Moore is going to be the showrunner.
The first two episode is going to be directed by The Boys and Fallout director Frederick E.O. Toye. The second season of the series has already been renewed as well.

There might be some disappointment among the fans because of Christopher Judge not being able to play Kratos in God of War live action series.
However, Christopher has already shared his love for Ryan to be able to play this character on X. For now, the release timeline has not revealed yet by Amazon, but you can expect it in 2027.
