New world of Mario!

The highly anticipated success of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart World, is all set to release on June 5, 2025, as an exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. The first reveal was showcased at the Nintendo Direct event on April 2, 2025.

Now, they have released a new 40-minute gameplay trailer, providing fans with what they can expect from the $79.99 game. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Mario Kart World new gameplay

The recent Treehouse live streams have provided fans with the new gameplay for Mario Kart World over two days. This stream happened on April 3 and April 4, 2025.

Unlike earlier entries, this game allows up to 24 players to race throughout interconnected regions—from icy peaks to sandy beaches—rather than on typical courses.

The movie showed the Grand Prix mode, which included races such as the Ice Rally Knockout Tour, in which participants competed back-to-back across courses, with eliminations for those who fell behind.

A Free Roam option allows you to explore the wide environment, riding jet skis, snowmobiles, or classic karts with others.

There are also new mechanics involved, like rail grinding for speed boosts, mid-air tricks, and dynamic weather effects, which were displayed in this new gameplay. Fans also got to see the Gamechat feature.

It uses Switch 2’s new “C” button to enable voice chat and screen-sharing mid-race.

File Size Revealed

Apart from that, Nintendo has recently also shared the game file size for their new upcoming games via the Japanese eShop. Mario Kart World clocks in at 23.4 GB, a notable jump from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s 11.3 GB on the Switch 1.

Other Switch 2 games include Donkey Kong Bananza (10 GB vs. Super Mario Odyssey’s 5.6 GB), Kirby and the Forgotten Land (5.7 GB), and Super Mario Party Jamboree (7.7 GB). The Nintendo Classics – GameCube app, which is only available with the Switch 2 Online + Expansion Pack, is just 3.5 GB in size.
