A new start for the competitive scenario

Just a day before the start of the 2nd half of season 1 in Marvel Rivals, two Esports organizations announced their entry into the competitive scenes.

Sentinels and Virtus.pro are ready to invest in this new hero shooter game by NetEase for the upcoming Marvel Rivals Invitational 2025 and Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1.

Sentinels aims to replicate Valorant glory

After Valorant, Sentinels are now all set to replicate their glory in Marvel Rivals as well. The American esports behemoth, known for its championship heritage, announced its entry with the intent to dominate. CEO Rob Moore and streaming icon Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek had been teasing the move for weeks, culminating in the actual announcement.

“We see incredible potential in the Marvel Rivals competitive scene and are excited to nurture emerging talent,” Moore stated. For now, the official roster for Sentinels has not been announced yet.

Meanwhile, Shroud is also making his own organization and on yesterday’s stream, he was even discussing the potential name for the team.

Virtus.pro unveils a formidable lineup

Another globally recognized esports name, Virtus.pro introduced its lineup on February 19, 2025. The team boasts some Overwatch veterans who were the winners of the EU Championship title in Marvel Rivals Season 0.

The lineup includes Duelists William “SparkR” Andersson and Philip “phi” Handke, Vanguards Andreas “Nevix” Karlsson and Finnbjörn “Finnsi” Jónasson, and Strategists Arthur “dridro” Szanto and Mikkel “Sypeh” Klein.

“We’ve assembled a squad ready to compete at the highest level and aim to set the standard from the first event,” Virtus.pro CEO Nikolai Petrossian stated.

The timing couldn’t be better, with the Marvel Rivals Invitational 2025 guaranteeing a $400,000 prize pool across four locations. In January, Game Director Guangyun Chen underlined that Marvel Rivals’ prime objective is to create a robust esports environment. Sentinels and Virtus.pro are set to lead the charge, with additional organizations attracted by the game’s growing popularity and competitive promise.
