Best MH game in the franchise?
Capcom’s latest Monster Hunter Wilds has smashed the first month sales record by selling 10 million copies in its first month. With this, it got the title of Capcom’s best-selling game in its first month ever.
This RPG monster-hunting game has been excellent so far, with the first title update 1 arriving soon as well. Let’s check out more details in this article.
A Record-Breaking launch for Monster Hunter Wilds
It was already expected that Monster Hunter Wilds would smash all records and now it has finally done it after the launch.
A March 31 press statement (Official Capcom’s website) attributes this achievement to new features such as crossplay across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, a day-one multiplatform release (unlike World’s phased rollout), and seamless open-world exploring with the new Focus Mode.
These changes, together with the series’ monster-slaying core, have captivated players worldwide. Launch statistics tell the tale: Wilds had 1.3 million concurrent Steam players in its first weekend (SteamDB), putting it among the platform’s all-time top five, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 (IGN, March 4).
Even now, it averages 300,000 daily players, despite certain PC optimization issues lowering Steam reviews to “Mixed” (58% positive, according PC Gamer). Nonetheless, sales surpassed 10 million on March 28, well exceeding Monster Hunter World’s 5 million in its first three days (Capcom, 2018).

Capcom is also releasing the first free Title Update, which is currently scheduled for April 4, 2025. This update is going to add the fan-favourite monster as well as the Grand Hub, a new in-game settlement where players can gather and communicate with each other.
Capcom has more plans for the next Title update for Monster Hunter Wilds, which is scheduled for summer 2025. After playing Wilds, comparing it to any other Monster Hunter game is not fair. The latest enhanced graphics, character designs, combat, weapons and monsters are all close to perfect. I played this game so much with my friend this month and I can’t wait to see what Capcom has more to offer.
