8 Million copies in three days

Capcom’s recent Monster Hunter Wilds has taken the world of gaming by storm and sold over 8 million copies in just three days. This made this title to be the fastest-selling game in both the Monster Hunter franchise and the company’s entire history.

Capcom has also revealed many things that are about to arrive soon in the game. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Best in the franchise

This beast of a title has outpaced its predecessors with lightning speed. Monster Hunter Rise sold 4 million units in its first three days, whereas Monster Hunter World sold 5 million in total, including digital sales.

Wilds? It has already surpassed them, with 8 million total sales. Could it dethrone World, Capcom’s best-seller with 25 million lifetime sales?

With this start, it has a serious chance! It peaked at roughly 1.4 million concurrent players on Steam alone, confirming its position as one of the platform’s top five all-time titles. Every streamer and gamer are currently focusing on their hunter journey in the game.

Free updates incoming

Capcom is not stopping here as they are soon going to provide free content in the game. The first update arrives in early April 2025, bringing the fan-favorite Mizutsune—that slippery, bubble-blowing Leviathan—along with the Gathering Hub for squad hangouts. Event Quests will appear weekly after the debut, bringing fresh challenges and gear.

On the other hand, Capcom has also dropped another big news where Monster Hunter maestro Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of World, Rise, and Wilds, is now Chief Product Officer of its development divisions, effective April 1, 2025.

He is replacing retiring Yoichi Egawa. With Monster Hunter Wilds already a big hit, his new role foreshadows tremendous things for Capcom—perhaps even an Onimusha sequel in 2026!
