New Exodus extended gameplay revealed at Future Games Show 2026

The game is currently planned for a 2027 launch

The Future Games Show 2026 ended with a new Exodus extended gameplay, the upcoming sci-fi RPG game from Archetype Entertainment.

Not only is Matthew McConaughey a part of this game, but it also reminds fans and players of Mass Effect. Several veteran developers from Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic are currently working on this game.

The latest gameplay trailer showcased a deeper look into the story, characters, combat mechanics and some unique features. Let’s check them out in this article.

Jun Aslan and his crew

In Exodus, players will play as Jun Aslan, an orphan who is descended from a once-powerful family. His life completely changes when he discovers a genetic ability that allows him to interact with the Celestial technology.

Players will be able to choose the character’s gender and customize the character at the start of the game. They can also choose from the route: the noble Virtuous Paladin path or the ruthless Vicious Immortal route.

Throughout the game, you will meet a diverse cast of companions. This features a large talking space wolf named Houston, a mech pilot named Elise, an old traveler named Tom and an intelligent octopus who drives a mechanical suit, named Salt.

The game reveal also had a talented engineer in the form of Feydra Nath, who uses drones to help her navigate her blindness.

Matthew McConaughey is voicing the character C.C. Orlev, who assists players with the upgrades and resources.

Fast-paced combat

In Exodus, you will get third-person shooting with tactical squad-based mechanics. You will be able to take cover, issue commands to your teammates, deploy special abilities and use a wide range of futuristic weapons. This is pretty similar to Mass Effect.

In the Exodus extended gameplay trailer, you can also see stealth options, precision headshots, environmental destruction, grappling movement, and several powerful gadgets.

Celestial Technology and Time Dilation

Jun’s strong gauntlet can influence the surrounding environment, alter terrain, create new ways and make pivotal decisions in the story.

The main narrative of the game is to save Jun’s home planet, Lyden, which is suffering from a devastating virus called The Rot.

Another interesting feature of this game is the time dilation. Players can only spend a couple of days on missions, but years pass back home, changing cities and personalities and the world itself.

With so many amazing features & mechanics, the Exodus game is becoming one of the most anticipated Sci-fi games that will be released in 2027.
