Why might the new Fable game be delayed internally?

Industry insider Jeff Grubb has recently claimed that the game’s delay is due to the concerns surrounding the launch of GTA 6.

There is no doubt that the Rockstar’s upcoming game is going to be a blockbuster and will dominate the gaming market scene when it is released.

Because of this, Microsoft seems to be very cautious about the scheduling of the game. Recent reports have also suggested that the next Call of Duty title might also be targeting October 2026 to avoid a clash with GTA VI.

Jeff has also reported that if things becomes to tight, there is a possibility of the game slipping to a 2027 release, but the decision has not been finalized yet.

Fable is still targeting a 2026 release

The game was last showcased during the Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026 and the game was expected to launch in Autumn 2026.
