New Frostpunk game confirmed for 2027 release; 11 Bit Studios future plans

The chilling Frostpunk game series has some exciting news for the fans as the new game has been announced, which will release in 2027.

This was confirmed on April 16, 2025, during the 11 Bit Studios quarterly earnings report and meeting. Fans are now pretty hyped for the upcoming project.

What do we know about the new Frostpunk game?

The confirmation for the new Frostpunk game came directly from the 11 Bit Studios’ president, Przemysław Marszał.

He shared the studio’s strategy to diversify the projects and the timeline while seizing financially promising opportunities.

“This underlies our decision to initiate production on the next project set in the Frostpunk universe, which we plan to launch as early as 2027,” Marszał stated.

For now, not much is known about the game, however, it is expected that the new game will be smaller in scale compared to Frostpunk 2.

The second title was released in September 2024 and sold over 592,000 copies by December 2024. Is this a new sequel or spin-off? Nothing has been revealed yet.

11 Bit Studios’ broader plans

Alongside this project, the studio has also revealed that they are developing a “larger-scale title” which is slated for a 2029 release.

This won’t be from the same universe and might be a completely different game. The studio is focusing on its goal.

The goal is to expand its portfolio, balancing smaller, quicker releases with more expansive endeavors.

The studio’s confidence originates from a strong financial situation, with 2024 revenues expected to reach PLN 140.54 million, despite Frostpunk 2’s mixed response (65% good Steam reviews recently).

The studio has a very busy schedule for now. The second title is set to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in Summer 2025, with DLCs planned through 2026.

Meanwhile, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is coming this summer, while The Alters, a sci-fi survival game, will be available on Xbox Game Pass on June 13, 2025, alongside PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
