Weapons for Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo!

Hack and Slash lovers are currently enjoying Ninja Gaiden 4, which is finally back after 13 years. Just like the fans expected, the game is filled with amazing hack and slash combos, weapons and bosses.

Both protagonists, Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo, have many weapons in the game that you can unlock on different levels. Let’s check out how to unlock every weapon in the game.

Ninja Gaiden 4 weapons guide

Takeminakata: The Starter Twin Blades

This is your starter weapon and you don’t need any unlock for this. These dual katanas are pretty good for the starting game and shred enemies in close combat like butter.

In Bloodraven mode, they combine to form a ghostly Tachi capable of mid-range sweeps and projectile tosses that are showy, balanced, and beginner-friendly.

Yatousen: Rapier to drill transformation

You need to clear Chapter 3, “Phantom Pleasure Quarter” to get this Rapier. This weapon focuses on counter and single target stabs.

Bloodraven ability makes it into a spinning drill, which can drill into enemies’ armor, but is not very effective in a crowd. You can pair it with dodges for surgical strikes.

Magatsuhi: Staff to Hammer

Players need to complete Chapter 7, Altar of the Mountain God, to get this staff, which is also a crowd killer.

The default staff flow is similar to Ryu’s Lunar, with extended reach and fluent spins for fiend farming. Bloodraven mode transforms it into a screen-shaking hammer, sacrificing speed for smash strength that shatters guards.

Kage-Hiruko: Mechanical Arms & Shuriken Toolkit

Players need to finish Chapter 10, “Bounding Spirits” to get this weapon, which is pretty versatile for assassins.

Shurikens handle melee and ranged pokes, with throwable minis for zoning. Bloodraven makes it, extending arms that allow for lightning-fast grabs and aerial juggles.

True Dragon Sword: Ryu’s Classic

This is an auto-equip in Chapter 14: “Unholy Descent”, when Ryu tags in. Ninja Gaiden lovers will recognize this iconic weapon, which amps damage for unstoppable shines.

Fluid and deadly as ever and now you can slice your enemies once again with this iconic weapon.

Dark Dragon Blade: Yakumo’s Ultimate

Chapter 19: “Ebon Wings,” but permanent after beating all Boss Trials (any difficulty, Hero included).

Dark energy increases the Dragon Sword’s heaviness, resulting in longer-range, dark blasts in Dark Gleam.

How do I unlock the Dark Dragon Blade in Ninja Gaiden 4?

Beat all Boss Trials on any difficulty (including Hero)—it’s Yakumo’s ultimate post-game sword with dark energy amps.

What’s the starting weapon in Ninja Gaiden 4?

Takeminakata—dual katanas that fuse into a Tachi in Bloodraven mode; balanced for early chapters.

When do I get new weapons in Ninja Gaiden 4?

Most unlock via chapter clears (e.g., Yatousen at Ch. 3, Magatsuhi at Ch. 7); True Dragon Sword auto-equips in Ch. 14.
