Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed a new Vampire support hero, ‘Doctrine’ for Overwatch Season 5. This was officially announced at BlizzCon 2026.

Overwatch’s newest Support hero: Doctrine
The limited-time Hero Trial for Doctrine is available from September 12, 2026, to September 14, 2026. This hero will officially be released on October 6, 2026.
He is a vampire-inspired Support hero with an aggressive playstyle. His offensive abilities will combine with his support mechanics.
He wields a magical scepter that can heal teammates, and his mechanical bat drones are able to add to the utility on the battlefield during combat.
According to many fans, Blizzard is a high-skill-level hero in the game who is rewarded by those with the ability to utilize his special skill set and positioning.
What’s his story?
In the new hero reveal trailer, we see Doomfist as he survives the assassination attempt. Working alongside Sombra and other Takon agents as they try to free Doctrine from captivity.
These events will lead to Overwatch Season 5’s narrative. Doctrine is joining the Talon side in the ongoing conflict.
New major updates for Overwatch Season 5
Apart from the new hero, players are also getting a new map: Watchpoint: Grimsvotn. This will be an Escort map that is set inside an Icelandic prison where Doctrine was once held.
Expect balance changes across the whole roster. Sombra is getting a rework, as she will now be a support character. Roadhog is also receiving a gameplay rework.
When does Doctrine release in Overwatch?
Doctrine will officially join Overwatch Season 5 on October 6, 2026.
