Rockstar Games has finally announced the GTA 6 Extended Look, which is scheduled to stream on Netflix on August 27, 2026, and later on YouTube.
Fans and players are very eager to learn more about the story campaign and online experience. However, a new report suggests that players might have to wait a little longer for the GTA Online details.
Rockstar reportedly prioritizing GTA 6 story mode
According to industry journalist Jason Schreier, Rockstar Games is currently focused on prioritizing the single-player experience for now.
The online component is expected to receive its own marketing campaign closer to the launch or after the release of the game.
For now, Rockstar has no plans to publicly discuss GTA Online during the current marketing cycle. They are focused on highlighting the game’s narrative, world, characters and gameplay mechanics.
This would follow in Rockstar’s footsteps, which have been to provide the multiplayer game as a standalone, separate experience to the base game.
GTA 6 online mode could get its own marketing
There is no doubt that GTA Online has become one of the most successful live-service games in history following the launch of GTA V.
According to reports, Rockstar Games might be planning a separate marketing campaign for the successor.
With this strategy, the studio will get more time to reveal the online mode features, gameplay system and long-term plans without drawing any attention from the GTA 6 story campaign.
