Bethesda has officially announced that The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered is arriving on Nintendo Switch 2. It might have taken some time, but this masterpiece is finally here on Switch 2.
This game was originally released in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, developed in partnership with Virtous. The remastered version comes with upgraded visuals, gameplay refinements, and several quality-of-life improvements. The game is all set to release on August 11, 2026.
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered Switch 2 physical edition
One of the biggest surprises Bethesda has given is the physical release of the game. The pre-orders are already open for the Deluxe Edition.
The early listing suggests that this game will ship on a standard Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge. It won’t be using Nintendo’s Game-Key Card system.
In this package, players will also get two iconic expansions of the game:
- Knights of the Nine
- Shivering Isles
This DLC will provide additional hours of gameplay along with the main campaign.
Switch 2 version could address performance issues
Although Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered is often praised for its modern remastered version with improved graphics, features & visuals, it has many technical issues, bugs and performance issues, just what we expect from a Bethesda game.
The announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 has spurred hopes in the community that Bethesda and Virtuos will take use of this chance to further improve the game.
There is no official word on any performance improvements, but players hope that the Switch 2 version will be more stable and have other changes that will ultimately help other platforms too.
