Gail, who is bitter since Joel killed her husband Eugene, is seeing Joel in therapy. Their session reveals that Joel and Ellie’s relationship is not as good as it used to be.

Eager for action, Ellie persuades Dina to accompany her on patrol, where they come across a dead bear, an intelligent infected, and a massacre.

Ellie cuts her midriff to conceal the Clicker bite that results from her impetuous behavior.

She and Dina dance and kiss at a New Year’s party, but Joel steps in to stop an old man’s homophobic tirade, and Ellie snaps at him for doing so.
