Since The Witcher 4 revelation at The Game Awards 2024 in December, fans have been trying to find everything they could about this upcoming game. While the trailer did not go into detail about the gameplay, CD Projekt RED has now provided more information on what gamers may expect.
In a recent interview with content creator Parris Lilly, game director Sebastian Kalemba shared some thoughts on one of the most important parts of the game, “NPC.” Let’s check out more details in this article.
More focus on NPC in The Witcher 4
Sebastian Kalemba recently told and discussed more about the quality of non-playable characters aka NPC in their upcoming The Witcher 4. He wants to enhance and realism of the NPC.
Kalemba stressed CDPR’s devotion to producing NPCs who appear to live their own lives, which improves the game’s immersion.
“We have this rule to make every single [The Witcher 4] NPC look like they’re living, with their own story,” Kalemba explained. He also talks about how the studio wants to put in efforts to elevate the quality of NPC on whole another level.
All improvements on their appearance, behavior, and facial animations to maximize the immersive experience. This method represents a significant improvement in NPC interaction and authenticity compared to earlier releases in the franchise. The goal is clear: to push the boundaries of what players believe is plausible within a game world, making every encounter with an NPC feel like a true moment of storytelling.
Personally, I am very excited about this. Good storytelling and character writing really make the game more fun. One of the best examples is Red Dead Redemption 2.
If they really do justice with the storytelling and NPC quests line, The Witcher 4 might really become one of the best open-world RPG games of all time.
To add to the excitement, CDPR has stated that Ciri, played by a new actor, will take the lead as the new protagonist, but Doug Cockle’s iconic Geralt of Rivia will return. The specifics of Geralt’s involvement remain unknown, but his presence is guaranteed to excite fans.
Also, in terms of map size, this will be pretty much similar to Witcher 3. Additionally, the famous minigame Gwent is set to return, promising to deepen the action with its strategic card battles.
