Tides of Annihilation's new gameplay reveals Knight system, hack & slash combat & more

The developers, Eclipse Glow Games, have revealed some new gameplay footage and core game mechanics for their upcoming AAA title, Tides of Annihilation.
In the footage, fans can see the unique combat system, Knight mechanics, bosses, and exploration. In this upcoming action RPG, we will get to see the blend of Arthurian legends and mythologies from around the world.
Knights of the Round Table
One of the main defining features of the game is its summon-based combat system. Gwendolyn, the main protagonist, can summon and fight alongside the two Knights of the Round Table at the same time.
Players can equip two different knight loadouts and swap between them effortlessly during combat.
Each loadout consists of:
- Main Knight – Determines Gwendolyn’s primary weapon and combat style.
- Sub Knight – Provides utility abilities, support attacks, and combo extensions.
Main Knights revealed
In the latest gameplay footage of Tides of Annihilation, it showcased three Main Knights:
Bedivere
- He wields a powerful scythe.
- He builds a special gauge through combat.
- He unleashes devastating burst attacks once fully charged.
Gareth
- He is a fast, agile and wind-based attack knight.
- He also leaves feathers behind during the combos.
- These feathers will automatically strike the nearby enemies for additional damage.
Palamedes
- He is a heavy melee specialist.
- He relies on charge attacks.
- He excels in staggering and dealing massive burst damage.
Sub Knights
In the new Tides of Annihilation gameplay footage, two Sub Knights have been revealed:
Gawain
- Instantly teleports to enemies.
- Deals mid-range damage.
- Helps extend combos and maintain offensive pressure.
Kay
- Possesses the ability to freeze time.
- Creates opportunities for powerful attacks and safer positioning.
Mythology plays an important role
Tides of Annihilation will blend several mythological traditions into one interconnected world:
- Arthurian legends
- British mythology
- Egyptian mythology
- Japanese folklore
- Chinese mythology
New bosses revealed
In the latest gameplay, there were many bosses and their types:
Anubis
- Sand whirlpools
- Massive sand walls
- Summoned priests
- Battlefield-altering attacks
Modred
This is another legendary Knight who is encountered inside a library. Modred can also summon fellow knights, while the second phase of this boss introduces an enormous Dragon.
Japanese Yokai
In the current gameplay demo footage, this boss is described as the hardest boss. They eventually transform into a dragon-like Yokai in the second phase.
Conclusion
Tides of Annihilation is going to be a linear progression system that will have interconnected levels. Players can also expect locked room combat encounters, puzzles, multiple dimensions with different hidden paths, and different weapons with unique passives.
