Sony marked their PlayStation 30th anniversary in style. This was yet another great year for them in the gaming department, as fans got to see some of the best exclusive titles, showcasing the PS5 console’s potential.

These games were not only loved by fans but also by critics. Astro Bot, an exclusive PS5 game, even won the “Game of the Year 2024” award. Let’s take a look at our list of the best PS5 games of 2024.

5. Silent Hill 2 Remake (PS5, PC)

This horror franchise has always been a fan favorite and Sony really did the justice by giving the fans one of the best remakes in the horror category. Words are not enough to describe the experience this remake provided.

In Homelander style, “Everything was perfect.” The best part was the Luke Robert performance who played James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 Remake. This was by far the best performance in 2024, no doubt.

Fans can play this game on PS5 and PC. This upgraded version delivers the horror classic to a new generation, improving gameplay while retaining the game’s unsettling story. It’s more action-oriented while retaining the emotional depth and psychological complexity that marked the original.

Final Fantasy series have always been exclusive to Sony Playstation and this remake of the trilogy was just sensational. There is no doubt that this was one of the best PS5 games that were released this year. It was even nominated for the “GOTY 2024” and even won the Best Score and Music award.

This game was also very well made, however, some other games were far better than this one. That’s why, we have put Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 4th in this list. Also, this game will be arriving on PC next year.

3. Helldivers 2 (PS5, PC)

This was the surprise game for me in this best PS5 game list. This was Sony’s live service game and I usually don’t like those. However, this was different and it actually worked quite well and became one of the fastest-selling games for Sony.

It combines frenetic arcade-style action with a cooperative gameplay loop that’s both addicting and enjoyable. Regular updates keep the war for independence on Super Earth lively and intriguing. Why did I put this above Final Fantasy? Because this is actually good and I had more fun playing this with my friends online.

I am not saying that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was boring, but this was just better than that IP in that department. It even won “Best Multiplayer 2024 Game” and “Best Ongoing Game” at the Game Awards 2024.

One of the most creative and innovative PS5 games that I played this year. Even though Astro Bot won the Game of the Year 2024, for me, it’s ranked 2nd in the best PS5 games list.

Team Asobi really did wonders with this PS5-exclusive title, making it an instant classic for gamers of all ages. Probably, this was the reason why this won the GOTY 2024.

This game is about enjoyable discovery and paying homage to PlayStation history. Each level is a lively, imaginative playground filled with references to please fans.

It’s a crime that this game didn’t win the Game of the Year 2024. Game Science first IP and boss, they really went all out with it. Despite this game having some issues, overall, it was the best PS5 game of 2024.

Soon Xbox owners will also be able to play this game on their console. Despite some technological difficulties, this game delivers a fighting system that is both entertaining and graphically outstanding, setting a high bar for action RPGs.

This game also won “Best Action Game” and “2024 Player’s Voice” at The Game Awards 2024. The Asian developers are really going all out and fans are excited for the upcoming titles which will be arriving next year as well.
