Another big reason to watch the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event on January 23, 2025. According to Jez Corden of Windows Central, Microsoft is ready to reveal an iconic Japanese IP at this event.

This report has hyped the Xbox fans a lot and this also aligns with Microsoft’s recent success with securing partnerships with major Japanese developers like Square Enix, HoYoverse, and Sega/ATLUS, bringing titles like Final Fantasy, Genshin Impact, and Persona to Xbox platforms.

This upcoming direct event is going to present a lot of big titles with in-depth information about them. South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and DOOM: The Dark Ages are a big part of this event. We may see some more surprises from the developers at this event as well.

The year 2025 is already looking very good for Xbox as one of the most anticipated titles, Avowed will be released in February. Another one is the reboot of the Fable which will be released later in 2025.

Now this latest news reported by Jez saying that an iconic Japanese IP will also be revealed at this event has only made the fans more hyped. On many forums, fans were already trying to guess what franchise could it be.

Some of the guesses involve games like Tenchu, MegaMan, Castlevania, Dino Crisis, Dead Or Alive, Chrono Trigger, Shenmue, or Ninja Gaiden. Some even suggested that it might be a new arc system works fighting game from Bandai Namco, One Piece, as this was leaked way before. There are also some strong suggestions about the Persona 6 as well.

However, many have suggested not to get too excited about this information as they have been disappointed by the Xbox many times and don’t trust Jez and his information too much. Well, for now, we can only wait for the direct event and see what surprises Microsoft has stored for us.
