Fellow Indian Diksha Dagar finished a respectable seventh.

India’s Aditi Ashok finished the Ladies European Tour (LET) season by clinching the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana tournament in Marbella, Spain. She pipped Anne Van Dam (68) of the Netherlands by two shots in the final round to emerge victorious. This is Aditi’s second win of the current season and her fifth overall LET title.

Overall, the Asian Games silver medalist, had scores of 69, 68, 68 and 66 with a four-day aggregate of 17-under-par 271. The two-time Olympian was tied in the second spot with Anne Van Dam in the penultimate day.

However, on the final day, she made six birdies in – 7th, 10th, 13th,15th, 16th and 17th holes to seal victory. Birdies in the last three holes proved to be substantial which helped her win the 5th LET title.

The other Indian in the fray, Diksha Dagar, finished tied seventh alongside defending champion Caroline Hedwell, Madelene Stavnar, Celine Boutier, Andrea Revuelta. After starting with scores of 72 and 71, the youngster improved her scores by registering 68 and 67 over the weekend.

“It started out slow, I was missing a lot of birdies for the first six to eight holes. I hit it close on seven, after that I felt like I still had a chance. Initially, it felt like I was two shots away the whole time. I’m glad it picked up on the back nine,” said Aditi.

“It was a great battle. Anne (Van Dam), when she’s playing good, she can blow the field away and win by five to 10 shots. I knew I had to not stop making birdies and to keep trying.

Aditi Ashok started the season with a win in Kenya and has ended the calendar year with a title. Overall she has participated in eight tournaments this year.

Indian Results

1. Aditi Ashok – 271 (69, 68, 68, 66)

7. Diksha Dagar – 278 (72, 71, 68, 67)
