Indian golfers who are still in contention to qualify for Paris Olympics 2024 after May

The Paris Olympics 2024 summer games will be staged from July 26 to August 11 and offer a unique mixture of tradition and innovation. The Stade Roland-Garros, Grand Palais, and the Seine River will be the setting of a wide variety of sporting competitions. Athletes from all over the world will further their claim to fame in 39 sports and 329 events, among them breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing, which will make their Olympic debut.

With the Games not far away, the craving to see some of the Indians tee off in the competition seems to be gaining ground. Following the latest updates and rankings, several Indian golfers are still in contention to make the Paris Olympics, and their progress indicates that they are giving away nothing in the qualifiers. These are the potential qualifiers for Paris 2024.

Indian golfers in race to qualify for Paris Olympics 2024 

The World Golf Rankings determine Olympic qualification for men’s and women’s golfers, with a maximum of four golfers representing a single country. The Indian Golf Union ensures top golfs from India are sent to the Paris Olympics for representation and competition.

#1 Aditi Ashok

Aditi Ashok, currently ranked 25th in the OGR, is looking to strike consistent form ahead of the Paris Olympics. She has already had a successful career, narrowly missing out on an Olympic medal at Tokyo 2020 and winning a silver at the Asian Games in Hangzhou 2023.

She plans to compete in at least eight more events before the Paris Olympics begin on July 26, focusing on her discipline and process in each tournament to get into a good frame of mind and routine before the Games.

#2 Diksha Dagar

Diksha Dagar, ranked 37th in the OGR, is also well-placed to obtain a quota for India. She made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and is looking to improve her performance in Paris. Diksha has been busy preparing for the Olympics, participating in a packed European calendar, including the German Masters in Berlin, to hone her skills and gain experience.

#3 Shubhankar Sharma

Shubhankar Sharma, currently ranked 47th in the Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR), is well-positioned to secure a quota for India at the Paris 2024 Olympics. To confirm his participation in the Games, he needs to maintain his place among the top 60 in the OGR by the qualifying window deadline on June 17.

Sharma has received financial support from the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), which will aid him in managing expenses and infrastructure during his preparations.

#4 Gaganjeet Bhullar

Gaganjeet Bhullar, currently ranked 52nd in the OGR, is also in a strong position to secure a quota for India at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Like Sharma, he needs to maintain his ranking among the top 60 in the OGR by June 17 to confirm his participation in the Games.

Bhullar has also received financial support from the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), which will help him with expenses and infrastructure during his preparations.
