The inaugural edition of the Premier Handball League is set to start on June 8th. Six teams (Garvit Gujarat, Rajasthan Patriots, Maharashtra Ironmen, Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Panzers and Telugu Talons) will be plying their trade in the 18-day mega Premier Handball League 2023 tournament. The tournament was supposed to start a few years back but due to unforeseen reasons and the pandemic it was postponed to 2023.
Each team comprises 17 players (14 Indian and three foreign players) with each team playing a minimum of ten matches each. Here's a look at what you need to know about the tournament in general.

What is the tournament format?
All six teams will play each other twice in the round-robin stages. The top four teams then proceed to the semi-finals followed by the final. The matches are played across 60 minutes, split into two equal halves of 30 minutes each. A total of 33 matches (including the knockouts) are set to be played in the inaugural edition.

The tournament is set to be played at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Rajasthan.

Viacom 18 network will serve as the official broadcast partner and the matches will be shown on Sports 18. The matches will also be available to stream on the OTT platform Jio Cinema and Fancode.
