Asian Champions Trophy 2023 will be hosted in India for the first time in the tournament’s history as Chennai hosts a hockey international tournament after a gap of 15 years. The last international tournament played in Chennai was the 2007 edition of the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup. South Korea are the defending champions, whereas India finished third, beating arch-rivals Pakistan 4-3 in the third-place match in the previous edition of the Asian Champions Trophy.

Tournament History
Asian Champions Trophy is a tournament organised by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) since 2011. A tournament initially proposed to be hosted annually, it has seen breaks in the plans multiple times. And hence, the 2023 edition will only be the seventh edition. Pakistan and India have won the tournament three times, the most of any participating nations, with the two teams sharing the 2018 title.
South Korea are the defending champions, defeating Japan 4-2 in the shootout after drawing 3-3 in regulation time.
Where will Asian Champions Trophy 2023 take place (Venue)?
India are hosting the tournament in Chennai at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium. The tournament begins on 3rd August 2023, and the final will be played on 12th August 2023.
How many teams will participate in Asian Champions Trophy 2023?
Six teams participate in the Asian Champions Trophy every edition, and that will be the case in the 2023 edition as well. Hosts India, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan are the six teams participating.

Groups and format
All teams will play each other once in a round-robin format. There will be a single standings table, and the top four from the table at the end of the group stage will play in the semi-finals, while the rest two will play for the fifth position. The winners of the two semi-finals will play in the final, and the losers will play for third place.
