Indian hockey star Hardik Singh reveals fans ignored Paris Olympics medallists, clicked selfies with Dolly Chaiwala

Hardik Singh shared that the incident took place when the Indian men’s hockey team returned after winning bronze at Paris Olympics.
The Indian men’s hockey team midfielder, Hardik Singh has revealed a shocking incident during the team’s return from Paris Olympics, where they clinched bronze. He stated that the Indian men’s hockey team were present in an airport after Paris Olympics 2024 when fans flocked to take selfies. But the fans were not interested to capture pictures with the team and instead were seen clicking selfies with the online celebrity Dolly Chaiwala.
The Indian men’s hockey team had won bronze in Paris. It was their second consecutive medal at the Olympics after securing bronze in Tokyo. The men in blue defeated Spain 2-1 in to secure a finish on the podium. While the nation was celebration and rejoicing the historic win, it was not the same when they arrived in the airport.
Singh said, “I saw it with my own eyes, at the airport. Harmanpreet Singh, I, Mandeep Singh; there were 5-6 of us. Dolly chaiwala was also there. People were getting themselves clicked with him and did not recognise us. We started looking at each other feeling awkward.”
Dolly Chaiwala had gained fame with his Instagram reels for his style of making tea. His name shot up since Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates uploaded a video on Instagram which featured Dolly Chaiwala. Since then, Dolly has been travelling around the world which he regularly uploads on his social media channels.

Hardik Singh talks about fitness of Hockey players and Yo-Yo test
During the SMTV podcast, Singh further revealed that the fitness of Indian hockey players is quite an understatement. He talked about how cricketers score in the range of 17 or 18 meanwhile hockey players score 23. Singh said, “In cricket if anyone is scoring 19 or 20 on the Yo-Yo Test, people call it the fittest, whereas Sreejesh, who is a goalkeeper, scores 21 in the test.”
The 26-year-old went on to further elaborate that the hockey junior girls team maintain scores between 17 and 18. The Yo-Yo test has been used to measure the fitness of athletes and has been used in different sports.
It became quite popular when Hardik Pandya of the Indian cricket team scored 23.7. He is said to be one of the fittest cricketers in the world.
Now with Singh sharing the insights on his hockey teammates, it gives a glimpse of the level of fitness of international athletes. He has been part of the team which won bronze in the Tokyo and Paris Olympics.
