5. Malaysia 0-5 India (6 August, 2023)
India continued to pile on the misery on the Malaysia by defeating them 5-0 in Chennai in their third match of Asian Champions Trophy 2023.
Karthi Selvam scored India’s first goal in the 15th minute. Hardik Singh found the net in the 32nd minute. Harmanpreet Singh added another in the 42nd minute. Gurjant Singh scored in the 53rd minute. Jugraj Singh wrapped up the scoring in the 54th minute.
India controlled the game from start to finish. Karthi put them ahead 1-0 as the first quarter ended. India missed a few penalty corners but then Hardik scored off a rebound to make it 2-0 in the third quarter. Harmanpreet pushed the lead to three goals. Gurjant and Jugraj put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. Malaysia struggled to create chances. They had one goal disallowed, which kept them from getting on the scoreboard.
4. Malaysia 3-4 India (12 August, 2023)
India once again defeated Malaysia in the month of August in 2023 but the misery for Malaysia was even more as India did that in finals of Asian Champions Trophy by mounting a stunning comeback. This victory made them one of the top performers in the Asian Champions Trophy, as they secured their fourth title in this competition.
India defeated Malaysia 4-3 in a final in Chennai. Jugraj Singh (9′), Harmanpreet Singh (45′), Gurjant Singh (45′), and Akashdeep Singh (56′) scored for India. Abu Kamal Azrai (14′), Razie Rahim (18′), and Aminudin Muhamad (28′) kept Malaysia in the game. Malaysia led 3-1 at halftime, but India turned things around in the final quarter.
Harmanpreet converted a penalty stroke and Gurjant tapped in to even the score. Akashdeep’s powerful shot in the 56th minute sealed the win for India.
3. Malaysia 1-8 India (11 September, 2024)
In what was the one of the worst drubbing for Malaysian hockey team, India defeated Malaysia 8-1 in the league stage game of the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
Raj Kumar Pal scored a hat-trick (3rd, 25th, 33rd minutes), while Araijeet Singh Hundal netted twice (6th, 39th minutes). Jugraj Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Uttam Singh also contributed. Malaysia’s lone goal came from Akhimullah Anuar (34th minute). India, dominated the match with 27 circle penetrations and 55% possession.
2. India 4-1 Malaysia (4 September, 2025)
In their latest meeting at the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir yet again India clinched a dominant 4-1 win over Malaysia in their second Super 4s clash.
Malaysia took an early lead in the 2nd minute through Shafiq Hassan, but India responded quickley and never looked back. Manpreet Singh equalized in the 17th minute, followed by quick goals from Sukhjeet Singh and Shilanand Lakra, giving India a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Vivek Sagar Prasad extended the lead in the third quarter, capitalising on a deflected penalty corner. The win pushed India to the top of the Super 4s standings and placed them in strong contention for a spot in the final.
1. India 4-3 Malaysia (26 September, 2025)
India secured a hard-fought 4-3 win over hosts Malaysia at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, in a match that swung back and forth across all four quarters. Selvam Karthi opened the scoring in the 7th minute, before Sukhjeet Singh restored India’s lead after Malaysia equalised.
Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner to cancel out Malaysia’s second equaliser, and captain Sanjay ultimately sealed the victory with a composed penalty stroke conversion in the 53rd minute. Malaysia, who had a man advantage for a spell after Jugraj Singh’s green card, kept fighting through goals from Faizal Saari, Fitri Saari, and Marhan Jalil, but couldn’t find a fourth. Goalkeeper Pawan produced a crucial save late on to preserve India’s lead as they held firm to close out the contest.
