The Indian Football Association (IFA) Shield, or primarily known as the IFA Shield, is set to return to action on 22nd September 2026, as one of the most prestigious tournaments in India is ready to grab the spotlight again after an emotional return in 2025, where Mohun Bagan clinched the trophy by defeating East Bengal.
A total of six teams are ready to share the pitch as they are all hoping to create a legacy in the IFA Shield as the competition has etched its place in history books from the pre-independence era in India and also carries a distinguished charm to be considered the third oldest football tournament in India after the Durand Cup and the Trades Cup.

East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan SC, Punjab FC, NorthEast United FC and Sreenidi Deccan are the six clubs from all over India that will take part in the upcoming IFA Shield 2026 campaign with fresh motivation to win the title.
The two groups for the group stage have been officially confirmed with East Bengal, Mohammedan and Punjab FC ready to lock horns in Group A, while Mohun Bagan, Sreenidi Deccan FC and NorthEast United FC are in Group B, as they will start their round from 23rd September 2026, with all games scheduled to be played in Kolkata.
The tournament will see East Bengal FC kick off the fresh campaign against Mohammedan SC on 22nd September. After the group stage, the two semi-finals will be played on 2nd October, however for the final, the date, timing and venue have not been officially confirmed yet.
