Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Events to watch in first week of November
Several Indian athletes will look to grab Olympic quotas for Paris in Archery and Badminton.
A lot of sporting events are lined up in the upcoming week of the Indian sports calendar. Two sporting events are set to offer Paris Olympis qualifying quotas in the upcoming few days. The Indian recurve contingent has had a poor season overall this year and are yet to secure an Olympic quota. With the upcoming Asian Archery Championship offering quotas, the recurve team will look to end the year on a high.
Here we take a look at the events to follow in the upcoming week (October 31-05 November) in the Indian sports calendar.
Archery
The all-important Asian Archery Championship is scheduled to be in Bangkok, Thailand. This tournament provides Olympic quotas in the individual and team events and the best from Asia will be taking part. Olympian Tarundeep Rai makes his way into the Indian team after having missed out for the Asian Games 2023.
- November 03-10: Asian Archery Championship
Badminton
The BWF World Tour European leg has come to the final stage, having started immediately after the Asian Games. A few top Indian shuttlers alongside the youngsters will be participating in the competition. After suffering from an injury last week, PV Sindhu might miss out on competing.
- October 31-05 November: Hylo Open (BWF 300)
Cricket
The Men's ODI ICC World Cup bandwagon is proceeding into its final stages. Hosts India have won five successive matches and has pretty much dominated all their matches. South Africa is the next best placed team having won four out of the five matches played.
- October 05-19 November: ICC Men's World Cup (Ongoing)
Football
Indian women's football team did not have a good start to their round 2 Olympic qualifier campaign as they lost to heavyweights Japan (0-7). The Blue Tigress are slated to take on Vietnam and Uzbekistan in their remaining Group C matches. The winner of the group directly progresses to the next round followed by the best second-place teams across all the groups.

Sport Climbing
The Asian Olympic qualifiers for sports climbing is scheduled to be held in Indonesia from November 03-10. National Record holder from Karnataka, Deepu Gowda, is set to take part in the competition.

Table Tennis
The top paddlers from across the world are scheduled to take part in the WTT Champions competition to be held in Frankfurt, Germany. Manika Batra currently ranked WR-35 is the only player to make the cut for the prestigious tournament.

Tennis
The 51st edition of the prestigious indoor ATP Paris Masters will feature all the top tennis stars. This will be the last major tournament in the calendar before the season ender ATP Tour finals. Asian Games gold medalist Rohan Bopanna and Australia's Matthew Ebden are seeded third in the men's doubles section.
