The month of May in Indian Sports Calendar will have several key events for Indian athletes.

Indian athletes achieved remarkable success across multiple tournaments in April in cricket, archery, athletics, chess and shooting among other sports. With new events being announced for the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, athletes have already begun their preparations as they target the next Olympic Games cycle.

In May, Neeraj Chopra Classic, Indian Premier League, ISSF Shooting World Cups, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals, and Asian Weightlifting Championships are some prominent competitions that are scheduled to take place. With this, let’s look at the Indian calendar for the month of May in details:

Key events to watch in Indian sports calendar for May

Archery

The Archery World Cup Stage 2 is one of the biggest competitions in archery happening in May in Shanghai, scheduled from May 6 to 11. With the mixed team event in compound archery now included in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, archers will be eager to make a strong impression as they set their sights on the sport’s biggest stage.

Athletics

The inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic is the most prestigious tournament happening in Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru, on May 24. Chess

There are several chess events to look forward to in the month of May, including the sixth leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix.
